About Me
Michael started his career in commercial real estate in 1999 with the De La Vega Group developing an 80 acre site for El Paso’s first “lifestyle center”. He was instrumental in various stages of the project, from marketing and leasing to property and project management. In 2003, he transitioned to Mimco Inc., the city’s largest and most active developer and landlord of retail centers. As a landlord representative, he specialized in retail center lease negotiations. He typically averaged 60 to 70 leases per year dealing with national retail and restaurant chains, government entities, non-profit organizations, regional chains and local business owners. During the next 10 years the company grew its portfolio from about 60 properties in El Paso, to over 200 properties and more than 1,500 tenants comprising over 5,000,000 square feet of retail space spread out through El Paso, San Antonio, Austin, Dallas, and South Texas. In 2013, he left Mimco to create and head the commercial division of KB Realty, one of the city’s largest residential companies with over 100 agents. As a partner he developed the division from the ground up. Along with training and coaching the residential agents in commercial real estate, his other duties included valuations for acquisition and disposition of properties for investors, site selection for end users, and, tenant and landlord representation.
